WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Week of March 1
Sunday, February 28, 2010
Don’t forget to check for the week’s schedule on the Lincoln information page.
ELIGIBILITY
I will pull grades at 5 pm today and will confirm tomorrow who is ineligible. For those who attended the work party, I will enter XCR at lunch on Monday. You may pick up community service confirmations on Tuesday.
AVPA CONCERT
The AVPA concert is this week. I was REALLY pleased with how things went on Thursday with Hoover (who sounds absolutely amazing!) Details are listed on the concert page this week.
Remember, as part of your grade for this concert, you need to help with either the set-up or the clean-up. THAT INCLUDES INELIGIBLE STUDENTS. Sign up on the board on Monday for a shift.
Specific times/dates for rehearsals:
Tuesday 3/2, at lunch in Room 40. All students.
We will run in this order:
-O Sifuni
-Turn the World Around
Wednesday 3/3, last 10 minutes of lunch in Room 91. All students, to confirm standing order and solve any problems. Turn the World Around first then O Sifuni.
SPRING CONCERTS: DATE CHANGE
This year’s concerts will be divided as follows:
Monday 3/29: Choral Union
Thursday, 4/1: Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Chamber
Jazz choirs will not perform but jazz students will perform as part of Women’s Choir or Men’s Choir.
The date change will allow our cheerleaders and Convertibles to perform with us.
CMEA: MARCH 27
In preparation for our CMEA performances on March 27, please mark your calendars for these extra rehearsals:
Wednesday, March 16: Vocal Jazz/Chamber
3:30-5:30 Men
5:30-7:30 Women
Thursday, March 25: Final CMEA rehearsal
3:30-4:30 Women (not Choral Union)
4:30-5:30 Chamber
5:30-6:30 Men
Jazz students will participate as part of Women’s Choir/Men’s Choir.
The rehearsal on 3/25 is necessary because of the absences that will be caused the following day by the AP retreat. Attendance is therefore mandatory.
Exact times for the performances on March 27 will be confirmed next week. For now, please hold the whole day until 5 pm.
MUSIC THEORY
All theory from weeks 1-6 must be completed by Friday, March 12. You will not be allowed to make up any missing grades after then.
This week’s theory is on durational and sol-fege syllables. Pick it up in class on Monday. Due on Thur., 3/6.
Debt list
The debt list for the choral department is listed on the money page. It’s much better than it was, but students still owe over $17,000. Please, get your debts paid so that I can pay the bills.
TISSUE!!
In the last week before the break, we went through EIGHT boxes of tissue!! It’s not even allergy season yet!!!!! If you’ve had a hand in helping use up tissue, please bring a box or two to replenish the supply.
EXTRA CREDIT/COMMUNITY SERVICE
It’s never too early to build up your grade, right? Here are XCR opportunities:
Crazy for You--see the show for 10 XCR points!
PARENTS: THERE’S A PLACE FOR YOU, TOO!
Knowing that parents read this as often as students (sometimes even MORE often!), here are some announcements specifically for you. You can find them all at the Parent Zone on this website. I will update them as necessary throughout the year, but you will find that the announcement change every couple of weeks. Click here to go there now.
CONCERT REVIEW
The due date for the Semester 2 review is May 19. The review handout is available in class (by the pencil box).
You can now also complete your review report using Google Docs! Click here to fill your report out online.

THIS WEEK IS A BIG WEEK FOR US. BE KIND, HELPFUL, AND SUPPORTIVE, NOT JUST OF YOUR OWN ENSEMBLE, BUT ALL. THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ASK IS “HOW CAN I HELP YOU, MISS K?” ASK IT OFTEN.
