2010-11
I am sad to report that the Music Department has been cut by not one but TWO classes, and it will be one of the choirs.  I have spoken to Ms. Zeller; it is possible for us to fund-raise to offer these classes.   Join the coalition to fight this:  sign up at www.lincolnperformingarts.com.

I need more men for Men’s Choir!  Help me add guys so that our department can have a better balance of women and men.

DRESS BUYBACK

For those leaving the department, you may opt to bring your Women’s Choir or Chamber dress to see if we can sell it in the fall. 

If you are interested, dresses must be dry-cleaned prior to returning them to me.  Fill out the dress return form (download it here or pick one up in Room 91), safety-pin it to the back of the bodice with your dry-cleaning receipt, put the dry-cleaning bag BACK ON, and bring it to me by June 4.

I WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL THE FALL IF WE CAN SELL IT, SO DO NOT EXPECT PAYMENT AT THIS TIME. Unsold dresses will be returned to the students at that time or we can give your parent a tax-donation receipt.

This option will not be available after June 4.

Knowing that parents read this as often as students (sometimes even MORE often!), here are some announcements specifically for you.  You can find them all at the Parent Zone on this website.  I will update them as necessary throughout the year, but you will find that the announcement change every couple of weeks.  Click here to go there now.

ODDS AND ENDS

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2010!  May your days be filled with good times and laughter.  There will be tough times, but you’ll overcome them if you remember these little hints:

Smile often.  You may never know how much someone needs to see a smile.

To be early is to be on time.  To be on time is to be late.  To be late is unacceptable.

Fail to prepare...prepare to fail.

Take no negative actions.  Let Karma take over.

Knowledge is powerful.  Get powerful.

Keep your head down and stay humble.

And the most important:

This, too, shall pass.  Take a breath and dig back in.  Yes, you can.

TO EVERYONE ELSE:

Unlike last summer, this one will be long!  Last year, we lost two whole weeks, but we now have them back.  Spend most of the time resting and having a good time, but don’t forget--there is a summer conservatory here at Lincoln you can be a part of, and $17K more for us to earn in order to put that jazz choir back on the books for the fall semester.  Helping hands are needed.  See you on August 16!—Miss K
